Agathe Lievens
Born June 6th 1968. Lives and works in Paris, France.
When Agathe Lievens films objects and daily life situations, they are generally distorted : the reflexion of an intersection in a mirror ball, a bus trip seen through a Fresnel lens (used to magnify the viewpoint). Her visual work can be compared to that of a DJ’s with sound: sampling, looping, distorting material by using filters, mixing, fragmenting, breaking down images…
However, her technic is quite basic for she makes no use of special or digital effects. What she offers is a particular standpoint, a sharp point of view on today’s post industrial world.
